Heirloom is free for clients. The adviser pays us a flat referral fee if you end up working together. The fee is the same across every adviser, so we've no reason to push you toward one over another. And it doesn't change what you pay them.
How we make money
If we're going to call ourselves independent, we have to be upfront about how we make money. So here it is.
When you sign on with one of our matched advisers, they pay us a flat referral fee. The fee is the same for every adviser we work with - so we're not nudging you toward any particular one.
The fee comes out of the adviser's pocket. Not your returns, not your fees, not a commission on a product. What you pay the adviser is exactly the same as if you'd found them yourself.
What financial advice typically costs in the UK
For context, here's roughly what UK financial advisers charge as of 2026. You pay these to the adviser directly - not to us.
- Initial financial plan: £1,500–£3,500 one-off
- Ongoing advice (flat fee): £2,000–£5,000 per year for typical client situations
- Ongoing advice (percentage of assets): 0.5%–1.0% per year of assets under management
- Hourly advice: £150–£350 per hour for one-off engagements
- Pension transfer advice: £1,500–£5,000+ depending on the complexity of the transfer
Whichever route you take, Heirloom itself is free.
What we don't do
- We don't take commissions from financial product providers
- We don't sell user data to anyone, ever
- We don't accept payment from advisers for higher placement
- We don't charge users, directly or indirectly
